About the artist - Frank Hinder Frank Hinder (1906-1992) was a pioneer of Australian abstraction and destined to become deeply involved in the modern art movement in Australia. During his early career he trained in the USA where he employed the theory of Dynamic Symmetry, a specific way of using geometric mathematical proportions, to further develop his art. Hinder was a member of the Camouflage Unit in Canberra during his service in World War II where he excelled using light, colour, tone and shadow. He worked in various media with integrity and distinction conveying his ideas to lithography, drawing, painting and luminal kinetics.
